Why do we need to take a vacation?
Is it important to get away from thing to be able relax and recharge?
Summer vacation is a vacation between school years in which students and instructors are off school typically between 6 and 14 weeks, depending on the country and district. Many families take a vacation (or holiday) during the summer time as that is when their children are out of school. In the United States, summer vacation lasts two to three months. The dates vary depending on the location of the school district, with two major formats. One is from early June to early September, the other major format lasting from late May to late August. Students also get a week off in November for American Thanksgiving, two weeks off for Christmas and New Year’s, and one or two weeks in March or April for Spring Break.
Many countries have similar schedule, it all depends when summer occurs and school calendars. Some families plan trips to visit family or go to places in other part of the country such as Florida to Disneyworld, Universal Studios, to the beach, historic sites and so much more. But given the economy many elect to have little trips not far from home and still have a good time, enjoy themselves while spending valuable time together.
But for many others, the chance to take a vacation to an exotic location proves to be much more attractive. It all depends on the time frame you have, where you’d enjoy going and what your interests are. If you are going by yourself, in a group, as part of a tour or just with your significant other. There are so many wonderful choices to be made. Niagara Falls (NY/Canada), any of the Hawaiian Island, or in Italy: Lake Como, Portofino, Verona, Bologna, Brescia, Venice, Positano, Giverny are just a few of so many wonderful places that are so perfect for special romantic get-a-ways. And not just for romantics, for people that enjoy history, seeing so much more of the world has to offer, different experiences and traditions.
I remember when I was growing up, during the summer time off from school, there were the usual treks to the beach (Fire Island, Jones Beach), plus going upstate New York to visit relatives as well as going to so many other places. Places such as Salem, MA, Cooperstown, NY, Plymouth, MA, Stowe, VT, New Hampshire, Bar Harbor, Maine, Disney World, FL, Bush Gardens, Florida and so many other wonderful places. Also as a child having the chance to go to camp and make new friends and seeing other places while at camp.
